Amman, November 8, 2021, The Crown Plaza: Jordan Exports (JE) and UNIDO conducted the Export Readiness Assessment (ERA) Awareness Workshop to an export consortium comprising eleven companies from the cosmetics and dead sea products sector and the garment and uniform sector. The workshop introduced the Export Readiness Assessment Workshop that Jordan Exports’ team will conduct to help the consortium companies increase their exports.
Establishing the export consortium is one of the expected results of the LevelUP project titled “Creating Job Opportunities for Youth and Women Through Improving the Business Environment and Competitiveness of Small and Medium Companies in Jordan.” LevelUP is funded by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development (AICS) and implemented in Jordan by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply (MoITS).
Jordan Exports’ CEO, Eng. Mohammed Al-Shanti, introduced JE’s role in supporting SMEs to increase their exports through numerous activities. He emphasized the importance of the companies’ feedback to guide JE’s support and the current collaboration between JE and UNIDO on LevelUP, especially for export development.
UNIDO’s SME Development Expert, Mr. Abdullah Al-Hindawi, explained that establishing the export consortium of Jordanian manufacturers in the project’s target sectors—cosmetics and dead sea products sector and the garment and uniform sector—will facilitate access to non-traditional markets. In addition, the export consortium will create competitive opportunities for its members to increase and sustain their exports.
