Workshop for the Jordanian Chemical Industry

Within the framework of JORDAN EXPORTS’ (JE) sectorial activities, JE in cooperation with the Jordan Chamber of Industry held a workshop for the Jordanian Chemical Industry on Monday, 29 August 2022 at Fairmont Hotel – Amman. This engagement aimed at focusing on the export competitive advantages of the sector to enter new global markets and increase Jordan’s share of exports.

The CEO of JORDAN EXPORTS, Eng. Omar Al-Qaryouti welcomed the participants and briefed them on the services and solutions carried out by JE through preparing economic studies and research on various global markets and on Jordanian products that have the export capacity to compete in global markets. Moreover, on training for small and medium-sized companies to export and promote Jordanian national exports to a wide range of countries in the world, as well as on export readiness assessments for Jordanian companies.

Al-Qaryouti mentioned that JORDAN EXPORTS will soon launch the Jordan Export Portal to promote Jordanian exports of goods and services, encourage and develop Jordanian national exports, and enhance export-related activities for Jordanian companies. This platform will be a one-stop-shop containing information, studies, research, and market entry requirements. It will provide electronic links with international research sites in addition to the feature of networking between Jordanian exporters and international buyers through a huge database that will be constantly updated, being related to databases of buyers and importers around the world.

The representative of the chemical industry sector Eng. Ahmed Al-Bis talked about the economic indicators of the sector and the volume of exports during the previous years. He also illustrated the opportunities and challenges faced by the sector and stressed the importance of promoting and developing the sector to increase the volume of exports and open new markets for it, in addition to emphasizing the solution to the obstacles facing the sector’s exports. He called on JE and other supporting institutions to assist the sector in the development of exports to global markets and to provide technical support to facilitate export procedures.

The workshop was attended by a high number of representatives of Jordanian companies from the chemical industries, reaching from sub-sectors such as chemical fertilizers, pesticides, medicines, soaps, detergents, dyes, and paints to various cosmetics such as the Dead Sea products that characterize Jordan worldwide.

During the workshop, the representatives of the participating Jordanian companies were extensively listened to. They mentioned various problems and obstacles they face, including the importance of training factory and company employees on the export process and export marketing to enable companies to export smoothly. They stressed the importance of having a modern platform to support, develop and promote Jordanian exports, such as the one to be launched by JORDAN EXPORTS soon. They emphasized the importance of having technical laboratories with the highest specifications to examine products and the need for specialized shipping tools also for small and medium quantities, as well as new ways of trade exchange between countries such as barters, as widely used in Africa

This workshop was the first of a series that JORDAN EXPORTS will carry out also for other sectors of the Jordanian economy
